10-year-old shoots and kills his mother Quiana Mann while using a virtual reality headset
The prosecution complaint claims that on November 21, a 10-year-old child shot and killed his mother, Quiana Mann, 44, because she woke him up early and refused to give him a virtual reality headset.
Due to his young age, WISN 12 News is not naming the child.
The youngster was allegedly playing with the gun when it accidentally went off, according to Milwaukee police, who initially classified the incident between 87th and Hemlock streets as an accident. They permitted the youngster to remain with his family due to his age.
The boy’s family contacted the police the following morning with grave concerns.
The boy’s sister, who is 26 years old, told authorities that her brother has always had “rage issues” and that a therapist who has been treating him gave him a “concerning diagnosis.”
The lawsuit claims that “he acts out and gets really agitated.”
Before the fatal gunshot, the mother of the youngster installed cameras throughout the house. Then, those cameras were disconnected.
The youngster logged onto his mother’s Amazon account the day after the tragic shooting, according to the sister, and ordered the headset.
She further stated to authorities that after the incident, her brother never sobbed or displayed any regret, but she did say, “I apologize really for what transpired. I apologize for killing my mother.”
Then, according to the sister, he allegedly inquired about the status of his Amazon order.
According to the complaint, the youngster confessed to police after their second interview with him that his mother had forbidden him from getting anything he wanted from Amazon.
He told them, according to the prosecution, the previous evening after receiving his mother’s set of gun lock keys.
“He entered the cellar and assumed a firing position. He acknowledged being aware that weapons may kill people “it says in the complaint.
“He shut his left eye before he released the shot. While he attempted to shoot the wall to “frighten” his mother, she moved in front of him. He later acknowledged that he shot her in the face when she was just 3 feet away from him. He shot his mother, put the gun in the closet in the living room, and then told his older sister, “according to the complaint’s investigators.
The boy is being kept in custody on a $50,000 bond after being charged with first-degree reckless homicide. He may spend 60 years in prison if found guilty.
Next week, he is expected back in court.
The funeral for Mann is set for this Friday.
