Anthony Ciccone, Madonna’s oldest brother, has passed away. He was 66.
Anthony was a complicated person, and as real brothers can, Dave Henry, the photographer, and I got into arguments at times. However, I adored him and knew him better than I sometimes wanted to admit.
While “trouble diminishes,” family remains, with “hands reached” across the table, Henry continued.
Then, my brother Anthony, good-bye. The god that both your blessed mother and mine believed in, he continued, “has her there, waiting to welcome you. “No one shall dissuade me from this goal, at least for today.”

Madonna, one of eight children, was raised in Michigan, where her elder brother is thought to have lived when he passed away.
In 1963, at the age of 33, their mother Madonna Ciccone passed away after a fight with breast cancer.
Anthony, on the other hand, had a history of alcoholism and was allegedly homeless for a while. He allegedly spent some time living beneath a bridge in Michigan.
The Daily Mail reported in December 2017 that Anthony had finished a rehab program and had subsequently reconnected with his family at home.
