Ashley Williams is the stage name of Ashley Williams Dodson, an American actress born on November 12, 1978.

She is well-known for playing the lead in the NBC sitcom Good Morning Miami and the TV Land series The Jim Gaffigan Show. Williams co-starred with Josh Radnor as Victoria in the CBS television series How I Met Your Mother. Over the years, she has been in over a dozen different television pilots, over 150 television episodes, and television movies for The Hallmark Channel, Lifetime Television, and ABC Family. She has performed in regional theaters, Off-Broadway, Broadway, and both studio and independent films.

Williams made her acting debut in the 1993 drama Indian Summer, which also starred her sister Kimberly. From 1994 to 1996, she portrayed adolescent Danielle Andropoulos in the soap opera As the World Turns.

Williams married independent film producer Neal Dodson on May 29, 2011. They have two kids, Gus Williams Dodson (born October 5, 2014) and Odie Sal Dodson (b. May 17, 2017). Williams was two months pregnant when she miscarried in the summer of 2016. She collaborated with the Human Development Project to speak publicly about her miscarriage experience with the aim of decreasing the stigma of miscarriage and encouraging more women to communicate openly about it. Williams is a certified birth doula.

Williams is the daughter of Linda Barbara and Gurney Williams III, a freelance health and science writer, and was born in Westchester County, New York. She is Kimberly Williams-younger Paisley’s sister and the sister-in-law of country music singer Brad Paisley.

In Rye, New York, Williams attended Rye High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Theatre in May 2001.
