Horowitz, David Joel (born January 10, 1939), is an American conservative author. He is the founder and current president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, the editor of FrontPage Magazine, and the head of Discover the Networks, a website that monitors left-wing people and organisations. Horowitz established the Students for Academic Freedom group, whose declared purpose is to fight “leftist brainwashing” in academia. Horowitz was raised by Communist Party of the United States of America members. Horowitz was an ardent supporter of the New Left from 1956 until 1975 before fully abandoning it. Horowitz’s ideological journey has been chronicled in a series of retrospectives, culminating in his book Radical Son: A Generational Odyssey, published in 1996.
