I attended the University of Virginia where I earned my degree in Biology and Psychology. I continued on at the University of Virginia to earn my medical degree and for my post-graduate training in General Surgery. During my residency I also completed a two-year postgraduate research fellowship. I subsequently continued on at the University of Virginia for my fellowship training in Surgery Critical Care and Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery.

In 2014 I was a Clinical Instructor of Surgery at the University of Virginia and subsequently joined the faculty at UT Southwestern as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery.

My research interests include cost effectiveness and clinical outcomes research in critical care and clinical outcomes in bariatric surgery. I have a special interest in the prevention and treatment of surgical infections.
