Biography:
Gillian Anderson was born on August 9, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. She studied at The Theatre School at DePaul University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1990.
She made her film debut in the 1992 film The Turning, playing the role of April Cavanaugh. The following year, she made her breakthrough when she starred as Dana Scully in The X-Files.
For her role, she received various awards including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in 1997. She played the role until the show’s finale in 2002.
