The death of one of their own is being lamented by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a Facebook post, detention officer Benjamin Held passed away last week as a result of serious brain trauma sustained in an off-duty car accident.
“If you had the pleasure of getting to know Held, you are aware that he was a superb officer, field-training officer, part of the detention response team, and a passionate officer who had an effect on everyone he encountered. Definitely going to miss him, “The division cooperated.
Officer Held was taken by CareFlite to the hospital, where he was given life support by medical staff. He was later removed from life support, though. Held gave his parts to science on March 10.
