Judith Susan Sheindlin, also known as Judge Judy, is an American court-show arbitrator, media personality, television producer, author, philanthropist for women’s advancement, and former prosecutor and Manhattan family court judge. She was born on October 21, 1942 as Judith Susan Sheindlin (née Blum).

More than one lawsuit has been filed regarding the successful television show’s earnings. For its portion of the $95 million library transaction, Rebel Entertainment filed a similar lawsuit against Sheindlin and CBS in August 2020. Sheindlin left CBS in 2021 to star in the courtroom reality series Judy Justice on IMDb TV. CBS opted not to respond.
Sheindlin portrayed Judge Judy in her own top Nielsen-rated court show for 25 seasons, from September 16, 1996, to July 23, 2021. Sheindlin was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2015 for having held the title of longest-serving television arbitrator in the history of courtroom-themed television. In 2019, she was honoured for her contributions with a Lifetime Achievement Emmy.
