Jay Haas has been trending all week since the kickstart of this year’s US Senior Open at Saucon Valley CC. For the past three years, Jay Haas has shot his age or better, but never on a bigger stage than Thursday’s U.S. Senior Open.

After a shaky start at soggy Saucon Valley, Haas steadied himself and played much younger than his 68 years down the stretch, carding a 4-under 67 to share the first-round lead with Mark Hensby.

Haas became the fifth player in US Senior Open history to shoot his age, joining Tom Watson, Hale Irwin, Harold McSpaden, and Jerry Barber. When Barber won the PGA Championship in 1961, he became the oldest first-time major winner.
Off the golf course the 68-year-old doubles as a husband and a father of two. Jan Haas happens to be his lovely wife as well as Bill Haas and Jay Haas Jnr.
