Latour’s founder Gustaf Douglas has died away.

Swedish aristocrat, commercial magnate, and politician Gustaf Archibald Siegwart Douglas Passed away today 3/05/2023.

Gustaf Douglas fortune was valued at US$7.2 billion in August 2022. Since 2007, he has also been a part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

It is with great sadness that we have received the announcement that Latour’s founder Gustaf Douglas today quietly has passed away.

Words can’t easily explain what a great and caring person Gustaf was. With his genuine enthusiasm for the businesses and his ability to articulate himself, he inspired and engaged personnel at all levels in the firms he worked with. Gustaf’s achievement as one of Sweden’s major worldwide industrial builders all time is clear. His legacy now lives on in all the companies he helped to develop, not least through the long-term sustainable corporate culture that currently lives on in all of Latour’s enterprises. Gustaf was constantly ahead of his time.

Our sympathies today are with Gustaf’s wife Elisabeth, and his sons Carl and Eric with families. The sadness and loss after him will be immense.

In 1963,Gustaf married Elisabeth von Essen, the daughter of Baron Eric von Essen and Louise (née Tamm).

Carl and Eric Douglas are the children of Gustaf and Elisabeth Douglas. Both hold various roles within the family business empire. Rydboholm Castle was the home of the Douglas family in kersberga. Rosita Spencer-Churchill, the third wife of John Spencer-Churchill, 11th Duke of Marlborough, is one of his younger sisters. Princess Elisabeth, the Duchess in Bavaria, is Gustaf’s other sister. She is married to Prince Max, the Duke in Bavaria.

At the age of 85, Gustaf Douglas passed away on May 3, 2023.
