On Saturday, March 4th, Wahkon, a city in Mille Lacs County, saw the death of a 59-year-old Blaine woman.

On March 4 at 2:09 PM, someone reported a snowmobile accident at 200 Main Street in the city of Wahkon to the Mille Lacs County PSAP.

The dispatcher called the sheriff’s office at 2:12 p.m., and they arrived to find a female lying unresponsive under a pickup truck in the 100 block of 2nd Street east. The female victim despite attempts at CPR was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is not thought to have been caused by alcohol.

Preliminary inquiries indicate the snowmobile lost control and collided with an unoccupied truck. Lisa Michaels, 59, was identified as the female driver of the snowmobile from Blaine. The snowmobile’s sole operator and passenger was her.

At the scene, the MLC Sheriff’s Office was aided by the Isle Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Isle Fire and Rescue Department, and the Isle Ambulance Service.
