Valerie Sununu, wife of Chris Sununu, the 82nd governor of New Hampshire, was born Valerie Bondola in Chelsea, Massachusetts, in 1972.
She is a graduate of Simmons College in Boston with a degree in Spanish and special education. After college, Valerie taught special education in Chelsea and then worked as a marketing director for a technology company.
Valerie met her husband, Chris in college and they married in 2001. The couple are blessed with three children: Calvin, Edith, and Leonardo.
Valerie is a strong advocate for education and early childhood development. She is also a supporter of the arts and culture. As first lady, she has worked to raise awareness of these issues and to promote the work of New Hampshire’s nonprofits.
