On Sunday morning, Saria Hildabrand left her residence on Mockingbird Drive in Midtown to walk to her job at Bread & Brew Alaska. Sadly, she never returned, and her husband, Zarrius, reported her missing the following day. Tragically, the search for Saria concluded in a grim discovery, and Zarrius Hildabrand’s arrest followed shortly after.
Initial investigations indicate that a domestic dispute escalated into a fatal tragedy. Zarrius Hildabrand told authorities that he and Saria had been out drinking and partying on Saturday evening. When they woke up on Sunday, Saria felt unwell and chose to walk to work instead of driving. However, alarming details began to emerge, raising suspicions surrounding her disappearance.
Bread & Brew Alaska staff received a text from Saria’s phone, supposedly indicating she wouldn’t be coming to work that day. However, her phone was found at home, and the restaurant’s CEO never received a call from her as suggested. Detectives investigating the case uncovered disturbing evidence within the Hildabrand residence, including a mattress saturated with human blood, blood traces in the bathroom, floors, and bathtub, and the discovery of two handguns, one of which was missing a bullet.
Zarrius Hildabrand’s credit card purchases, including cleaning supplies and a mattress cover, raised further concerns. A search of a truck parked on Alpenhorn Avenue revealed a matching trash can containing possible bloodstains. Human remains, later identified as Saria Hildabrand, were discovered beneath a pillow in a storm drain.
Zarrius Hildabrand was apprehended on Thursday night and appeared in jail court on Friday, where his bail was set at $500,000 cash. Saria’s mother, Meredith Barney, expressed her heartache in court, revealing that Zarrius had deceived her during the search for her daughter. Saria’s tragic death has left a void in the community, her family, and the military community.
