In Memoriam: Remembering Jerry Altman, Victim of Tragic Bull Attack
It is with heavy hearts that we commemorate the life of Jerry Altman, who tragically lost his life on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, in a harrowing incident at a rural farm property in Effington Township, situated just west of Parkers Prairie. The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing 911 call at 6:14 p.m., reporting an ongoing attack by a bull on an adult.
Responding promptly to the distress call, law enforcement arrived at the scene with a swift intention to aid the victim. The bull responsible for the attack was humanely euthanized to ensure the safety of all involved. Regrettably, the victim has been identified as Jerry Altman, a 64-year-old individual who was later pronounced deceased.
The collaborative efforts of various emergency response teams were crucial during this challenging time. The Parkers Prairie Police, Fire Department, EMS personnel, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Life Link Air Ambulance all extended their support to manage the situation and provide assistance where it was needed most.
