Sandy Lyle (born 9 February 1958) is a Scottish professional golfer who has the title of Alexander Walter Barr “Sandy” Lyle, MBE. During his professional career, Lyle has won two major titles. During the 1980s, he rose to become one of the most successful golfers in the United Kingdom, alongside Nick Faldo and Ian Woosnam. From its inception in 1986 through 1989, he spent a total of 167 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Lyle was chosen to the World Golf Hall of Fame in December 2011, and he was officially enshrined into the Hall in May of the following year.
