Souad Faress, a British actress who works in theater, radio, television, and movies, was born on March 25, 1948. She is most known for playing the lawyer Usha Gupta in the venerable BBC Radio 4 drama The Archers and for playing the High Priestess of the Dosh Khaleen in the HBO drama Game of Thrones’ sixth season. She was born in Ghana and is also a citizen of Syria and Ireland.

Faress was born in 1948 to Irish and Syrian parents in Accra, Ghana. She resides in London and attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study drama. Since around 2004, she has been experimenting with playwriting as a medium. Faress successfully completed a writing course at City Literary Institute. Her other talents include yoga, cricket, horseback riding, and dancing. Faress made an appearance in two episodes of the BBC series I, Claudius (1976) as a slave girl (shouting fire) and as a dancer who realizes troops are approaching them at Messalina’s (second and bigamous) wedding party.
