It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of two young souls, Tahlulay Henry and Kamorra Campbell. Their lives were abruptly taken on Thursday morning, August 31, 2023, following a devastating traffic collision. This painful loss has left a void that can never be filled.

Tahlulay Henry, aged 15, hailing from Elgin, and Kamorra Campbell, aged 16, from Bartlett, were the victims of this heart-wrenching accident, as confirmed by the Kane County Coroner’s Office. We also extend our heartfelt condolences and support to Elizabet Esparza, who is currently hospitalized and in stable condition. We are withholding the identity of the fourth student involved, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, out of respect for their privacy, and we are closely monitoring their recovery.

During this unimaginably difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of Tahlulay Henry and Kamorra Campbell. We want to assure them that we stand by them and are ready to offer any assistance and support they may need.

To our U-46 Staff, Parents/Guardians, and the South Elgin High School community, we understand the profound grief and sorrow that this tragedy has brought upon us. The South Elgin High School and District crisis team is actively engaged, and grief and loss social workers and counselors will be present at South Elgin High School to provide support to students and staff for as long as it is required.
