Iga Swiatek reached the semifinals of the 2022 French Open, defeating Jessica Pegula in straight sets.

She has the third-longest WTA winning streak this century, with a 33-match winning run. Swiatek’s winning streak was only second to Venus Williams’ 35-match winning streak in 2000 and Serena Williams’ 34-match winning streak in 2013.

She advanced to the final after defeating Daria Kasatkina in straight sets as well. She has a 34-match WTA winning run, which is tied for the second-longest since 2000 with Serena Williams.

Witek joined the ITF Women’s Circuit in 2016 and continued to compete till the end of 2018. She won all seven ITF singles finals she reached, beginning with four at the $10K to $15K level and progressing to one at the $25K level, followed by two at the $60K level. Her first three titles came when she was 15 years old.

The fourth came in February 2018, in her first competition after a seven-month injury layoff.

Witek advanced to higher-level ITF competitions later that month after winning a $25K championship in April. She missed the junior US Open after winning junior Wimbledon in July to stay in Europe. She won back-to-back US Open titles over the course of two weeks.
