After a stellar career at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, the 27-year-old Leonard Fournette had near-unprecedented fanfare heading into college in 2014. He is a running back in the National Football League for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL).
He was picked by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft after playing college football for the LSU Tigers.
Who is Leonard Fournette’s father Leonard Fournette, Jr.?
His parents, Leonard Jr. and Lory, raised him in New Orleans’ 7th Ward.
There is not much information concerning the father. Fournette grew up in a tough neighborhood plagued by crime and gang activity, particularly after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Fournette attributed his football career to Katrina after moving to Houston and back within a year due to the hurricane evacuation. He also attributes his mother’s Catholic religion to the family’s survival during the healing process.
Following his sophomore season in 2015, he received a unanimous All-America pick after establishing school single-season records with 1,953 running yards and 22 rushing touchdowns, and leading the NCAA with 162.8 rushing yards per game.
