Samy Lenwr, a Cameroonian musician, director, actor, and photographer, passed away early on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at a Yaounde hospital.

Less than a month after Cabrel Nanjip’s passing, another comedian and performer died suddenly in Cameroon, leaving the country in deep sadness.

Who was Samy Lenwr?

The youngest of three brothers born to a Cameroonian mother and an Egyptian father, Leonard FEFOA AKA Samy Labrute was born in Yaoundé on October 13, 1989.

After successfully completing his secondary education in a local institution, he pursued his studies at the University of Yaoundé II (SOA), where he was majoring in law.

His kindergarten teachers had done the right thing by bringing him to perform songs because he has always been passionate about music. This practise continued each year’s end during the distribution of report cards till he entered college.

Despite being a part of the community choir, he then made the decision to start writing and came up with the alias Samy Labrute, a dynamic mafia movie character. Samy fits the bill and is capable of more for his teammates. He enjoys the music of musicians like Petit Pays, Youssour ‘ndour Isma’il Lo, Ménélik, Mc Sollar, and La fouine, to mention a few.
