Don Edwards was born in 1935 or 1936 in Boonton, New Jersey (reference needed).
At the tender age of sixteen, he set off for the Texas oil fields and the wild frontier. In 1961, he broke into the industry when Six Flags Over Texas engaged him as a singer, actor, and stuntman. After five years, he decided to go for Nashville in search of a recording contract. He collaborated with Nanci Griffith on “Night Rider’s Lament,” a song written by Michael Burton, which appeared on Griffith’s Grammy-winning album Other Voices, Other Rooms from 1993.
Don Edwards was honored by the Western Music Association with entry into the Hall of Fame in 2005.
After a long and fruitful life, Edwards passed away on October 23, 2022, at the age of 86.
