Carrie realizes that Big probably left Natasha the money in his will as an apology for the way he treated her during their marriage. Natasha tells Carrie that she refuses to accept Big’s money and suggests that the money be put towards charitable purposes instead.
The plot device that brings the former Mrs. Big back into Carrie’s life strains credibility: Big has inexplicably left Natasha $1 million in his will, which throws Carrie into a tailspin and spurs her to track the poor woman down for an explanation. Classic Carrie! When the two women finally meet face-to-face, Natasha if understandably pissed.
Turns out Big left $1 million to his ex-wife, Natasha Naginsky ( Bridget Moynahan ). Carrie was partially responsible for the end of Big’s marriage to Natasha after she caught the pair having an affair in her own house. At the time, Carrie was with cheating on her then-guy, Aidan Shaw (John Corbett).
In SATC ‘s Season 2 finale, which comes one episode after Carrie runs into Big and Natasha in the Hamptons, Carrie calls Big and invites him to a platonic, friendly lunch. After they’ve loosened up with a few drinks, Carrie encourages Big to open up about his new relationship with Natasha.
