According to the Los Angeles Times, while Broderick had 4 children, he only named 3 of them in his will – 18-year-old Lee was not included. Broderick amended his will on August 9, 1988 (one year before his murder) to specify that “I specifically make no provision in this will for my daughter, Lee Gordon Broderick.”
The rest of his belongings, however, were to be divided among all of his and Elisabeth’s children. But two years later, after the divorce was official, he amended his will to exclude Lee Broderick, who now lives in Pacific Beach. The will contains no explanation for the change.
The exact reasons behind the decision are unknown. The Broderick children were occasionally used as ammo in Dan and Betty’s prolonged battle. It’s possible that Lee came out in support of her deeply upset mother at an inopportune time. “He had told me before that he was going to write me out, but I didn’t think he would.
Betty was found guilty on two counts of second-degree murder in December 1991. “The bitch is dead,” Betty reportedly told Lee over the phone, per The Sun. Lee is one of the Broderick children who approached the heartbreaking matter with a more empathetic mentality.

Late last month, Union Bank of San Diego filed suit against Colorado businessman Laurance G. (Larry) Broderick, the brother of Daniel Broderick, accusing him of failing to repay two-thirds of a $450,000 loan–money owed to Daniel and Betty Broderick’s sons, Danny, 16, and Rhett, 14.
Lee Broderick, 21, a fourth child, was not included in the will. The bank filed suit as guardian of the boys’ estates, and alleges that Larry Broderick failed to repay a 7% interest loan by July, 1989.
Larry Broderick could not be reached for comment, but sources close to the case say the Colorado recession and building slump have taken a toll on his lumber business in Denver. “Larry had borrowed money from Dan’s pension plan and hadn’t paid it back,” said an attorney, who asked not to be quoted by name.
