Finau was born to Kelepi “Gary” Finau and Ravena Finau. His mother sadly passed away in a car accident in 2011.
Finau grew up with six siblings; four brothers and two sisters. His brother Gipper, at the age of 16, made the cut in the Utah EnergySolutions Championship. He did not succeed as a tournament professional.
The love for sports does not end in his family, his extended family also shares a love for sports. Finau is the cousin of NBA basketball player Jabari Parker as well as the cousin of former NFL football player Haloti Ngata.
