Dr. Jason E. Lowenstein is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Adult and Pediatric Spine Surgeon. He is the Chief of Scoliosis and Spinal Deformity Surgery at Morristown Medical Center and the Medical Director of the Scoliosis and Spinal Deformity Center for Atlantic Health System. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone Hospital. He specializes in the treatment of Spinal Deformities, such as Scoliosis, Kyphosis, and Spondylolisthesis, Cervical and Lumbar Disc Herniations and Stenosis, Complex Revision Surgery for Failed Back Syndrome, and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. He has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, honored by New York Magazine, Inside Jersey Magazine, Jersey's Best Magazine, and New Jersey Monthly Magazine as Top Doctor and Top Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon, and received the NJ's Favorite Kids Doc Award by New Jersey Family Magazine. He is an active member of the Scoliosis Research Society, the North American Spine Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Lowenstein graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania where he studied neuroscience and was honored as a Dean’s List Scholar. He received his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where he worked in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Growth and Development laboratory, performing gene therapy research for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Following medical school, Dr. Lowenstein performed his orthopedic surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center. There, he conducted research in the treatment of spinal deformities, such as scoliosis and spondylolisthesis. Dr. Lowenstein then completed a fellowship in spine surgery at the Emory Spine Center / Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He currently practices at Morristown Medical Center and NYU Langone Hospital.
