The driver of the motorbike that was involved in a tragic double collision in Vigo County on Friday has been named as Mitchell Lankford of West Terre Haute, Indiana.

Following a car-versus-motorcycle collision that claimed the lives of two riders on Friday afternoon in West Terre Haute, Lankford, 34, was detained and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance resulting in death.

According to reports, around 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Lankford was driving a pickup truck on Highway 150 near Sandford Road in West Terre Haute when the truck made a left turn directly into the path of a motorbike.

The motorcycle’s driver and passenger were both declared deceased at the site.

At the moment, their names are being kept a secret.
